Carc Compatability

What paint sticks to carc that isn't carc? I want to repaint my M1009, but would like to use a paint system that is more readily availible. I have seen gallon cans of gillisspie, but understood it to be not carc and probibly wouldn't stick. Just looking for a close colour match, don't really care what the texture is or if it is alittle glossy. Would like it do be as durable as auto paint if not better.

Thanks in advance,
MatthewH

just sand it, prime and paint. I have not had a problem with any paint sticking to CARC. I have just sanded CARC and painted it right over with Gillisspie 383 no problem.

Does Gillespie make a primer for there paint? Also, is Gillespie a thicker paint, requiring a larger paint gun tip.
Anybody know where to get the stuff in michigan?

Thanks in advance,

some people say to use a auto paint hardener, I my self have never use it I just let it air dry and bake it in the sun for a couple days. But I think I will try using a paint hardener when I paint my 5 ton.

I imagine that a good epoxy or urethane paint like DuPont Nason would be extremely durable. Have seen a couple of civy trucks painted in a green color and it seems to hold up well. My problem is i will have to touch it up every couple of years as i do rust repair, ( the great michigan salt cancer) so i wanted a common paint system the any auto parts place could get.

order 4 gallons at a time from PAINTS for the best price.
General Jims had some Gillespie on the shelf last fall.
It can be shot with or without hardener, obviously with hardener will be better for durability and recoating year after yaer.
