FYI
Commercial Driver Handbook, Department of Motor Vehicles California,
Effective January 30, 2015, Commercial Drivers no longer need to carry your medical examiners certificate for more than 15 days after the date it was issued (by the medical examiner) as valid proof of medical certification (Title 49, CFR, §391.41(a)(2)(i)).

While FMSCA has said the same thing, I will carry mine a while longer. I don't want to try to convince the DOT officer that hasn't got the memo yet.

It should be in their system by the 15 day time limit. Still not a bad idea to have it handy though. It really doesn't weigh much.
