Are there any tricks to getting the plastic cooling fan off a HMMWV? I see it has an external line to the clutch assy on the nose of the shaft. I can't see inside the radiator shroud enough get a good idea.

Any tips would be appreciated.

There is a hydraulic line, very small, that is connected from the shroud on the drivers side and goes to the fan clutch. Disconnect line at fan clutch (3/8 or 7/16). It is a knuckle buster. Then remove the 4 nuts (1/2" IIRC) and then maneuver fan blade over clutch and remove. PIA. Good luck.

Thanks so much. I didn't have time to look thru the manuals, I have to pull one off a vehicle on a lowboy early tomorrow morning, and needed the general concept. Thanks Ted and Jwaller!!

Well that really was a Pain in the A__ My hands are way too big. got the quick disconnect off, and the 4 nuts and washers, but I can't get it out of the shroud. I'm gonna have to pull the radiator after it comes off the lowboy. Working on a lowboy doesn't help either. I have a lot less skin on my hands now...

ya it's not any fun at all. you should be able to remove the 2 rear support bars from the rad and lift it up just enough to get the fan out.
