correct speedo gear for 2.73

my speedo reads 45 when going 55,i know the trans and transfercase is not original,it has a np242 case.i think it is set up for newer 3.08 gear
what speedo gear will correct it i have a 2.73

You have to make sure you you have a red gear in the tcase for a 242.you will have to pull the speedo adapter out to check. Also, you need to set the speedo adapter to the correct setting...it's labeled on the tcase.
I,don't know what year you have, but most early were 2:56, A2's had 2:73 and 3.08's were for the newest trucks.
unless your diff has the ID plate, you will need to open them up to read the numbers on the big gear and report back.

Red gear will have a 36 on it
Orange gear is for 2.56 ratio.
