Correcting Deuce Heater plumbing

Today I fixed the incorrectly installed heater plumbing on my deuce. I currently do not have the heater installed (project for another day), but my coolant filter is plumbed in the way a heater would be (it will be in parallel w/ the heater if/when I get around to it). According to this PS Magazine article http://shortlinks.net/dye221 the correct way for the heater to be connected is for the supply line to originate just behind the thermostat and for the return line to connect to the water pump housing itself. As I received it my truck’s source line was correct, but my return was just forward of the thermostat. I moved the return to the right place and plugged the “extra” opening in the thermostat.

Looks good. I like the coolant filter...I have one on my Ford truck, and you'd be suprised what you catch in that filter...amazing.

Here's an interesting thread on kinda this same subject (Thanks Emmado):

Note that the pic here is from my deuce before it was bought at acution from the dealer I eventually purchased it from. Here is what can happen to it if you get the heater installed wrong:

(look at the 2nd post down from the top, picture #8...see that hole? That was caused by incorrectly bypassed coolant through the heater and it killed the motor due to overheating. (it's got a new motor in it now).

Anyways, just a little background on what can happen if it's done wrong.
