Could this be the ignition (column) switch?

I replaced the ignition key cylinder last week with a unit from NAPA. Today while I was out I went to start my Blazer and I hear the "No start" >clack< of the starter relay. I, in shock and fear, accidentally turn the key all the way back to the ACC position and try again. It fired right up. I made the bold/idiotic decision to make one more stop- ok, 2 more stops on my way home. I repeat the same scene. On the last start, I turned my key to ACC first- started right up.

Does the rod that the key throws to the ignition switch get bent over time? I replaced the ignition switch last summer with a new Echlin part and it worked fine... until today. If not the rod then I was thinking the column mounted switch is slipping. Does this sound right?

Sounds like the switch at the bottom of the column is out of adjustment by a hair. It wasn't an issue when the ACC position wasn't used but now that you are using the ACC for your radio, it MAY have moved the switch slightly.

Cheap to check.

I don't recall if it is in the TM or not.
