CUCV Engine Mount / Engine Height in Frame

Hi All,
My M1009 has the issue where the lift pump line is rubbing on the crossmember and leaking. I know this can be a problem when the pass engine mount wears out and lets the engine sit lower. However, these mounts are somewhat new (10 years ago probably 30k driving since then) and don't appear that worn out.
When I replaced these previously I remember the first set I got from the parts store didn't fit (I probably told them 84 K5 with 6.2L) so they went in the back and found a set that matched. I remember when I installed them the fuel pump was pretty darn close to hitting the crossmember, but it wasn't quite (probably a finger width or less).

Is it possible I got lower/shorter than stock engine mounts or is that about how close it sits usually? Since I have owned the truck the bottom of the fan shroud has been broken off by the fan (seemingly indicating the engine is sitting too low or is nosed down). I have a parts yard fan shroud to install, but haven't gotten around to it as I need to get the fan to sit an inch or two higher to get it to fit right.

Can anyone take some pictures of what the lift pump-crossmember clearance should be? Also what are the correct mounts to make sure the engine is sitting up at the proper height? From a quick check it seems the engine-side bracket is the right part number per the TM.

I have yet to change out my mounts but I READ on here that instead of mounts for a 6.2 diesel for some reason the CUCV needs the mounts for a 5.7 gas engine. Per NAPA the 6.2L takes a BK 6021251 and the 5.7L gas takes a BK 6021179 or BK 6022355 so you might look into that and see if that is true or not.

I am not trying to get away from the motor mount idea. That could be the problem.

However, I did a lift pump replacement a few days ago. I have the Energy Suspension polyurethane mounts on that truck. Removing the supply line was not an issue getting to it or with it being near the crossmember. Since there is only a single part number for the lift pump from Delphi I didn’t do a side by side comparison of the input line. I just tested the pump arm to make sure it had no take up and a very short stroke before I bolted it on.

I had a 3/8 bolt clamped in the supply line to keep the fuel from dripping all over me. That meant I saved hooking that line up until the very last thing. It wouldn’t fit! The crossmember was in the way of even getting the hose on. No clearance at all. I grabbed my old broken pump and compared them. The supply pipe was at a considerably different angle and direction.

I stuck a stubby Phillips Head driver in the pipe to keep it from collapsing and very gently bent the pipe to where my old pump had its. It was just up and over a little, but a huge difference in clearance.

My previous pump was an O’Reilly’s brand and the new pump is a Delphi HFP906. They look identical on the outside. Except for the angle of the supply pipe. I have no memory of bending the supply pipe when I have done previous 6.2/6.5 pumps. This was at least my 5th or 6th lift pump replacement on many vehicles over the past 15 years or so.

I can’t tell for sure from the pictures, but it looks like the pump body is well clear of the crossmember with just the supply pipe and hose close to it. Maybe a gentle push on yours would solve your issue?

Good call, I was able to tweak the fitting on the pump and cut out the bad section of hose and gain an inch of space. The fitting moved very easily. I’m still not sure why the fan is lower than the shroud, but this at least gets things going again over the holidays.
