OK guys, couple questions about a Generation 2 CUCV. We have one in the unit and may be picking one up.

Common issues? (just toss me the threads, I'm heading out the door for work in a bit).

Also, the possible incoming one had a HUGE steel bar of some type mounted under the front bumper (didn't see one under the back). It looks like it's for sling loading maybe? I haven't seen this before, it's somewhere between 3"x3" to 5"x5" (no measuring tape). Also looked like a drip under the driver's side door/frame portion. couldn't tell the liquid as it had soaked into the ground, just saw the wetness/discoloration.

Fixed your title as I thought you where asking about the GEN2 alternator on the original CUCVs

We don't have many CUCV-II threads. Stonepicker1 is our Diesel expert, as he has three of them.

Common diesel issues are with the PMD getting hot and shutting down the engine. Bearings spinning on the 6.5L turbo diesel (common GM issues).

If it is a gasser, the Vortec 5.7L has some fuel delivery issues. Many recommend upgrading the fuel injector lines.

No manuals have been found for the Military items and wiring diagrams. Most of the truck is covered by the 4set factory manuals. I have created a wiring diagram for the charging and startining system.

The bar is more than likely a mount for a Warn Winch. Some trucks had them as an option

Be sure to post the required pictures

Check the oil cooler hoses for the leak. The clips are known to weaken and dump oil. That may be why the bearings spin. I have many 6.5L on GL tha are in pieces. Stonepicker1s first CUCV-II had a bad bearing.

if you happen to find any manuals you will be everyone's new best buddy. :)

Thanks. Popped the hood on the one we haven't gotten yet. The carberator and all the battery cables are missing. Even one of the battery trays is gone. didn't appear to be any other issues. maybe not every fuse in the fuse box? seemed to be a few missing...

What year of truck is this? Different engines for different years.

May be we are talking apples and oranges.

Any pictures available?

I keep forgetting to take them, I'm going to try to swing by today or tomorrow and grab a few. I'm on TDY all of next week. And I think I misspoke, not the carb, but I'm not sure what. My Chief thinks someone might have removed them to dissuade any interest in the truck so they can get it when it goes to auction. the battery cables missing is just odd... but there might be a few bucks in the copper.
