Despite years of ownership and reading, I’m truly not sure when or if they have all been rotated out of every unit’s stocks.

In September of 94, I was in the 747th MP Co (MA army national guard) and we ferried HMMWVs that were already heavily used by some other unit at Devens, to our new armory in Southbridge. Nothing but HMMWVs in that unit.

At AT97, with A/1/181 Infantry out of Worcester, I remember we had CUCVs, not a HMMWV to be seen except FIST and mortar type guys . I distinctly remember being in the bed of a M1008 as we bounced through some interesting terrain.

I drove an M1008 through desert storm in 91. We had hummers but the unit we got attached to took half of them and gave us the 1008s.

Im 2006 TDY from Ft. Riley to Ft. Sill my unit was running training for convoy driving to other services and I pulled a fully equipped M1031 out of DRMO so I could maintain all the hummers we were using for training.

Fun times…
