I recently bought this Cummins NHC-250 engine core....as well as 2 multifuel engines....rated B4. One does have a Cummins pump.

Just wondering what it costs to rebuild theCummins NHC-250 engine.

Question 2 is regarding the engines rated as B4. According to the rating, these are supposed to be good engines..ready for service. Has anyone had experience with these engines that are rated B4?

are you talking about the condition code used by drmo?

in that case its kinda a crapshoot, its much like the infamous "ran when parked". and FYI "4" means "usable- property which shows some wear but can be used without significant repair."

"without significant repair" could be anything or nothing

As far as a rebuild cost is concerned, that could be a very broad range depending on what it needs and how far you wanted to go. Say just rings and bearings, gaskets, get the heads looked over, and you do it yourself. 1000 give or take. Now say full engine kit with pistons, sleeves and all bearings and all the fixins. Get the heads done, injectors and pump, pretty much give it the works and do it yourself 2500 + or - .If you hire a mechanic to do it then there would be a good sized labor bill on either estimate. There is many people on this site far more qualified then me to do a good estimate on that. Maybe one will chime in.
