I have seen many videos on YouTube of mainly M149A2s still in current service. Most of the trailers no longer have NDCCs on them. Instead, it appears that they have radial tires. I don't believe they are G177s, although I am aware that some trailers did use them (I actually have an M149A2 with Michelin XL 1100 radials...fortunately, they are like new since they were among the last fresh tires and I have kept the trailer in a garage since I've owned it). I want to put radials on an M105A2 trailer in which I store wood...usually up to 2-1/2 cords of hardwood, which is a lot of weight. The NDCCs that I have on it are older (some dry cracking) and I know they are overloaded. I don't usually take the trailer out on the road. It mainly sits stationary, but I have taken it out previously. I estimate that I had about 7,000 pounds in the trailer. The trailer, itself, seemed unphased. The tires also took it and handled the trip (about 15 miles). But, I don't want to chance it. I want to replace the tires with radials. Anyone know what the military is using on the 1-1/2 ton trailers currently?
