Daily Driven Cucv Starting Issue

I have a 85 M1009 w/ 79000 miles and a recently replaced Starter Solenoid.

Aside from the previous owner replacing the starter solenoid plug with female pins to accept commercial solenoid, nothing electrical has been changed on the truck.

I parked the truck the day before Thanksgiving after coming home from work, go to start it on Thanksgiving, and it wont start (32 degrees, truck reliably started in the 17 degree weather the week prior).

Wait light would go out, the first time I heard the GP solenoid click, and I tried to start the truck. The starter chattered along with some warning lights and the wait light on the dash.

Tried again the same results. After the second try I looked over to see the voltage was already in the orange.

Put a new battery in the second position in the truck, and the voltage is still in the orange. Same results.

Unfortunately most tools, and voltmeter are at work, and the truck is far from it. So it's kinda hard to diagnose.

Any input would be appreciated.

Without seeing it I would say the front battery is low. I am assuming you are talking about the second battery being the rear battery. Try to jump start the front battery off of a normal 12 volt vehicle and see if that works. When that happens to me it is usually just the front 12 volt battery that is dead or low on voltage. Try that and let us know how you make out. Battery charger will work also. Not 100% sure but trying to help you out. Don't keep trying with the low voltage that is hard on the starter and the relays.
