Don't know if the 5 ton uses the same bulbs as the A2 deuce but I use Erik's Military.

I also found some shorter, brighter bulbs (#356) at www.memotronics.com through their eBay store.

The shorter filament of the 356 provides better illumination in the gauges.

You want to be careful. Someone replaced the bulbs in my M923 with something nonstandard (not per the TM) and they melted the plastic covers. It was a MESS to disassemble them and fix (cover melted into socket) - had to replace two of the sockets. Plus, I had to find the correct covers (mine were green) and they were hard to find in the long configuration. This is another story - the military covers are in two lengths and in many different colors (red, green, blue, clear, ...?). Find the long, clear covers if you want a brighter dash, but they are hard to find too. The short, clear covers seem to be readily available, but then you need to change out the mounting brackets on the sockets.

You might what to clean the dust off the bulbs, the little windows in the sockets and the sides of the gauges, made mine really brighter.

True story with Al Jones' comment. I also completely destroyed a socket assembly trying to remove the melted lens, all because of the wrong lamp. Always replace with the correct lamp.

There are cheap leds on epay and other vendors from china. Led run cool, no issues with heat or melting like an incandescent bulb. They make them with many different styles of lens heads to throw the light in a pattern you want- sideways, spot, beam etc.
Just look for the small bayonet base BA9S, 24v and experiment as the oversees leds are cheap in comparison to when they first hit the market.

Some of mine came with a small led with 5 red leds in a circular pattern from the military. Adequate but does not throw off a lot of light.
