I was informed by the Italian department of defense by certified mail AND direct visit from the Carabinieri (our military police) they will be visiting next Friday. They will inspect my security, gun breaches, certificates of demilitarization.
This has never happened before and after speaking with other private museums and large collectors they have been advised of the upcoming inspection. So everyone is being inspected.
I get the feeling security of the equipment is their main concern.

Now this morning I was reading the yahoo news and saw this.

This T55 is being sequestered from a museum by the rebels in eastern Ukraine. They also took field guns. The curator stated they had written authorization.

My location is a long distance from the fitting but it seems it's to be effecting even us.

If they are concerned that it might get stolen or sold, what is their plan to prevent that from happening?

Will they provide you more resources to protect your property - or will they just confiscate it, as they can better protect it?

I have alarms, steel doors and cement walls almost one meter thick. I have no windows to break and enter. I feel everything is safe. I have signed and sworn none of my equipment will be sold into private hands and only to other museums BUT only with approved end user certificate.
All equipment would be difficult or impossible to start for all of multiply starting sequences. Trying to jump the startler poles on a tank are impossible because of the starter location.
None of my cannons have breaches. There is no way they could ever fire a round.

It wouldn't be government if they didn't control or tax something. Hopefully your inspection goes well with no issues !!
Thanks RRacing. I will keep you posted. Over my dead body will they take any of my equipment away. I'm a registered private museum. I'm a insured, certified and registered arms dealer. Everything I have is 100% legal.
Maybe they want to help with my security? Haha

Hopefully, they will "inspect" and you will sail through with flying colors. Sometimes it is better to wait with a calm head and attitude than to "assume" the worst. Prep for it, and it sounds like you have, and go from there. Please keep us informed.

God bless,
Tony

I've seen brand new breaches at breaking yards in the UK for my Chieftain MBT . I've a
so tripped over brand new and used gun barrels. The breaking yard did not know what they were. He bought them in scrap lots. In short it would not see much to put the puzzle back together and make it work nut gosh this seems like a lot of trouble to go through but I guess it also depends on what your needs are.

I guess a guy would be wise to remove some key parts and hide them
so they are less "desirable" perhaps. So instead of the inspector writing down.
ALL EQUIPMENT FUNCTIONAL, instead they might write ALL EQUIPMENT INOP.

Yep, remove a track section here, maybe a road wheel there, take wheels off of gun carriages and set them on stands... Make it look like some of the more desire able items are simply incomplete projects.

I just had a thought, grab some nasty looking cut up wiring harnesses and hang them
dangling down w/ a few household wire nuts , stuff you should NOT use on a MV,
have that stuff laying around the floorboards :)

Bikeman, that's the Italian DoD doing the inspections. They probably don't need our help policing their population.

Doesn't hurt to dream, now does it? Like the idea of slight misinformation about completeness of vehicles and equipment. Very plausible and relatively easy to accomplish.

God bless,
Tony

I don't think we need to be talking about how to tamper with a federal government inspection.

Carlo, When I was an FFL I got a notice of inspection from our friends at the BATFE. It was pleasant and the inspector even helped me correct a mistake in my books.

Don't think the worst until it happens.
