DEUCE flywheel install

So, the cadets removed the gearbox, clutch, and flywheel (on a deuce 2 1/2 ton m35a2 to change the rear crankshaft oil seal.
Trying to re fit the flywheel IMPOSSIBLE!. it appears there is no support (flange) or Dowels to locate positively the flywheel, and they can NOT find a position where all 6 flywheel bolts will re insert.
Cheap ridiculous made on a beer day design! (all European and Chinese!) engine flywheels are dowelled and or flanged to facilitate a prompt accurate fit.
Anybody any ideas for the kids to refit this (junk! designed) component?.

They removed it w/o marking for correct installation, let them fix it!

It will only go on one way. 6 bolts means 6 trys will get it, just make sure they mark it as they try it so it isn't tried twice.

Last time they make that mistake I bet.

I cut the heads off long bolts and install 2 on the crank flange then slide the fly wheel in, just keep trying til they all line up. Install the cap screws, remove the be-headed bolts and install the last 2 cap screws. Tighten and torque. JT

Well nobody else said it but you know the answer to predicament could possibly be somewhere is some TM someplace.

First off, sorry you didn't read the TM on engine repair or you would know this. Second, having worked on European "Junk" engines I can honestly say this design is not bad. You don't need extra balancing on the crank to "offset" the added weight of dowels and pins to align the flywheel. I know your frustrated, but getting angry at the design of a 60 year old engine is not the way to get answers. Especially when this design had been used for almost 100 years now. Here in the "colonies" the mechanics all know this design and how to work with it. Over there across the pond I know your mechanics are used to different procedures. In the end all the different engines seem to work OK.
So breathe, relax and with the proper procedures go and fix your truck.

Use a vernier caliper and measure the hole spacing to identify the odd one, Same on the crankshaft. Mark them with a magic marker(ink pen).
