Went to the workshop to take out the vehicles to get at some work that needed completing, and the last truck in, A deuce..refused to start. Murphy strikes again!.
So, We extricated the b...y thing with the forktruck. Some time ago a similar thread had me answer (the poster) "look at the crossover pipe from the first fuel filter (under the front) , then (Bet'ya) it's the pipe union going into the injection pump primer inlet. (So, here I am).
No fuel. Replaced the in tank pump. No fuel. Replaced the first filter. no fuel. Replaced both top filters, no fuel!. So remembering my 'advice' previously (on the same fault on my M45 530C firetruck..I removed the crossover line.
At this point I was in pain, soaked in muck and diesel, extremely bruised elbow and MORE than fed up. The bottom union just above the winch propshaft had me foxed and I could not start it in the thread. . Beny comes over, says " you do the winch" (clean it ready to insert on the M45 530C) I'll " fix this". (We swapped jobs). I did say to him " I doubt you will get that union started it is so awkward" ("and I've been doing them for ####years!). ."easy I'm the kiddie!" was his retort. Under he went 16 1/2 seconds later.."there easy!"
He spent a long while sorting things out. Summing up. It WAS the intake, there is a one way valve in there. The remedy is to Blow air back through that one way valve from atop where the line goes into the filters and in 'reverse flow' with that pipe off.
Switched on, primed up, and it fired up at a touch of the button. Ran great. The kid got to drive it (reward!(for diligent and persevering attitude.)).
We then went on to our original task of fitting an original winch on the the firetruck. (bens post).
A great deal (of very difficult and tasking) work duly completed.
