Hey guys,
Before any one says anything I have looked at all threads on this matter.
I drove the truck yesterday after changing all filters. Ran it about 12 miles to make sure no , leaks. I sprayed down the engine compartment with purple cleanerand rinced with the garden hose.
went to start it this morning and Nothing! She cranks and I am getting fuel to the filters.:?:?:?:?:?:?:?:?

By the way Happy thanksgiving!
going out for a M151 ride !! Always good to have a back up plan!!!

He is talking about the lever inside the fuel shutoff lever assembly. Sometimes they stick. Take out the 2 bolts/screws and make sure it moves freely.

Hey Gimp,
I don't know where to look on the IP? is it the thingy that the rod and spring go thru?
I have owned this truck for a year and a half and have never had to do anything but change filters and brake work.
So that said, Where on the IP do I look?
I have been reading threads all morning and can see you know your stuff! Please bear with me !

OK just went out and looked at IP.
I have two covers , one has a single cable connected to a APROX 7/16 shaft that moves forward and back.
It is held on by 2 sloted screws. It is located 1/2 way down the center of the IP. The second one is located to the rear of the IP and has an arm on a splined shaft.it also has a cable and a solid rod connected to it with 2 springs.
Is either one of these it?

Your looking for the cover on the side near the center with the 2 slotted screws. Remove that cover and the fuel control rod will be staring back at you. You should be able to push the bottom of that rod towards the cab. When you release it gravity should make it fall back to vertical.

How cold is it outside? Maybe it needs a shot of starting fluid. My deuce needs just a touch when the temp drops below 30 degrees. Just enough to start the diesel burning in the first place.

Well digger, THX, what if it dosent what is my next move?
P.S. loved your comments at the bottom of your page!
Sorry I had to leave for our first turkey day meal!
Welldigger put you in the right direction.
It needs to move freely. If it doesn't its just crud in there, I have used a screw driver to pry them back and forth. Let me see if I can post a pic of whats in there...IP fuel shut off.jpgvenice beach 032.jpgvenice beach 038.jpg

OK , That's the one I thought it was.
I have got to get a quality screw driver , my screws are in tight!. It was 40 degrees today@ 7am but warmed up nicely to 67 this afternoon.
Looks like a great Black Friday project for me!
Should I clean it out with Carb cleaner? what causes this ,and what can I do in the future to prevent this?
I do run filtered WMO down to 5 micron with a 70/30 mix gasoline.

Thank you all for your help
I will post tomorrow to let you know how I made out

In the 3rd pic, that black lever should move freely. If you push it towards the firewall, it should spring back toward the radiator. Sometimes all it takes is moving it and your good to go(moving it breaks the "freeze"). If not post back up and let us know. It gets complicated(sort of), but its not too bad if you go slow and watch what your doing.

OK, Went out this morning and removed the cover and everything looked good , nothing was bound up .
Moved the lever back and forth , installed the cover and she started right up!

THANK YOU all for your input!
I really do appreciate it.

Gimpy, This whole thing started by me changing my filters and oil like a good little boy!
Now I cant stop my filters from leaking. I purchased the correct gaskets and filters. I didn't over tighten them .
I know I need to get spin ons. This is not the month to get them with X-mas looming.
Is their any trick that I can do to get me thru the next couple of months?- double up on gaskets maybe?

Did you remove the old gaskets? Which new ones did you install?

Nope, double gaskets will cause much more headache! Once in a while, a truck will have a hiccup, don't think this will happen all the time. If you still have issues after today, we can look farther, but I think you should be good to go.

Do not spin the cans. Only tighten with the bolt and a wrench.
