Did the LDS head need to be retorqued? If so to what?

I have read on here of some needing to retorque to 157ft lb, also i see conflicting information on valve lash of either .010" on intake and .015" which is it? .025" for exhaust i know. I know consult the TM but is the TM information correct or has it since been updated being they were improperly torqued? Or does this not apply at all to LDS motors, only LDT?

I have a small oil leak on the rear cylinder head gasket, two of my tractors leak in the same manner so i am not too concerned with it but i was going to remove the valve covers and check valve lash etc when i go over it, and depending on how dirty it is i may remove heads and send to machine to have valves recut, heads milled, new valve seals etc. it's alwasy nice to have a fresh top end

For those who have had these heads off are there any problems when removing them? particular bolts that break or any tips for removal? Theres nothing wrong with the engine i just like the peace of mind i think i would be waiting a month or two anyway to do it but would like to start collecting info and parts now. I'd also like to replace all of those short coolant hose pieces everywhere.

Anything else i should do while the heads are off?

Small leaks are supposed to be there. See if you have small quarter inch tabs sticking out between the heads and block. If so, those are "weep" tabs built into the head gaskets.

.10 for the intake and .25 for exhaust. Some do .15 on the intake because they think they know better than the engineers that built it.

Yes, 157 is what is printed in the TM.

I've always believed if you have a good running motor , leave it alone . If you want to learn how they work from the inside out , get a core motor and rebuild as a spare.
