DOT3 was what was used...
There was a really long winded discussion about this on the www.g741.org forum a short while ago... The basic consensus was to stick with DOT3/4 and flush it out every year or two even if you had just rebuilt the system...

I am using DOT-4 cuz it is just a little bit better the DOT-3, as per the discussion the was mentioned by CGarbee.

I use dot 3 in my deuce and have taken it on 1000 mile trips with out a problem. but there right you should flush it every couple of years or even every year if you drive the heck out of it.
