Elec fuel pump

This is the electric fuel pump that has been on this truck since I can remember, 20 yrs or more?
Also a look at the screen filter in it. This is the M135 that was running fine and then started romping and lurching at times. We changed the other filter and even removed and cleaned the carb, which looked fine as far as I could tell. Even though this filter has probably at least 50% open, do you think it could be the trouble?

Sometimes, when people mount an electric fuel pump on an engine like the 302 they also add a safety switch that is tied into the oil pressure so when the oil pressure drops, it cuts power to the pump. If this is the case, if the vehicle is stopped at a light, the oil pressure drops and the engine keeps running, burning the fuel in the carburetor and then the light changes and the driver presses on the gas, and the engine dies or sputters it may make it to the middle of the inter section .

Folks, I really appreciate all the in-put I have received. I was not able to help my Son last evening when he sent me those pics. But he cleaned that screen and everything he could in the pump, lines etc. Seems that was the culprit. He tells me he took it for an extended run and it ran better than it had in years. We are going to keep test running it every chance we get, but he feels that the problem has been solved.
Thanks again ever so much.
I will be back before long with some other questions.
This truck is like a holy quest. We are trying to keep it rolling as we use it to ride Veterans in all the parades and events we can get it to. These are the Westmoreland County Viet Nam Veterans in the Fort Ligonier Parade.
