I've read a few of the related articles , and I have a couple of questions on where to start with some electrical issues on the M814.
I've driven it around a bit, and a few days ago, while making a short trip back I noticed my voltage meter had pegged out. I couldn't get it to go down, and all the other gauges in the truck where acting strange, so I disconnected them as I had before on an earlier trip. I drove the remaining few miles home, parked it as normal and waited for it to cool down.
I noticed while walking around it that the headlights were off, even though they had been on before, but figured they must have just died.
I shut the truck down and then yesterday I went to move it again, and when the battery switch was moved to the on position I recieved no reaction from any component. When the engine starter switch was moved to the start position, nothing either. I open the fuel switch and then fired it up by shorting the main power from the starter to the solenoid, and she lit right up.
I'm guessing the over voltage fried the control box, and I should start there, correct? I pulled the alternator and replaced the regulator section, hoping that's the issue. It looks like 24V is everywhere it is suppose to be.
Eastern Surplus has used control boxes for $150, is that a decent deal?
