Emergency front wheel drive?

Can a 5 ton be driven front wheel drive only in an emergency if the rear driveshaft is damaged or removed?

yes if it is a air shift. going to handle like a bowl of jello! i wouldent drive it far.

I've driven a jeep without the rear drive shaft, no problem. I don't think I'd try to drive one of my 5 tons that way, I'm not sure it would even move except on pavement.

yes, the front will pull automatically, the sprag will engage thinking the rears are spinning

Even the manual says that it is acceptable to operate the 5-ton with front drive only, just at reduced speed and load. THe only real difference is that there is no engine braking. (Like there is much anyway...)
