is the engine in a CUCV, the 6.2L diesel, the same as what the HMMWV uses?
I just started thinking about this last night, and wondered if they're the same motor or not.

the current mil spec hummers use a 6.5 L Turbo Motor, Its a redesigned block with lower compression pistons and different heads. The lower compression pistons allow for the use of the turbocharger

the reason for the block redesign was to address a cracking issue in the water jacket on the passenger side of the engine block. under boost the 6.2L block just doesnt have the amount of metal in one spot to prevent cracking under prolonged high pressures. You can use a turbo on a 6.2, you just can't expect to use more than 5 to 7 psi without risking cracking. the turbo kits that came off of the suburbans come up on ebay from time to time.
