February 7-9, 2014 Central Florida Fairgrounds Orlando HamCation
Orlando HamCation is the second largest amateur radio convention in the country, and the largest in the Southeast. Various organizations such as ARRL, AMSAT, FADCA, FLWSS and others will be addressing issues important to today’s amateur radio operators. There is also a computer show. Although this event is not military vehicle related, it is possible to find military radios and antennas.
Tickets are $12 advance purchase, or $14 at the gate. Advance purchase tickets must be ordered by 1/18. Tickets are valid for all 3 days of HamCation, and for all areas. The Central Florida Fairgrounds address is 4603 West Colonial Drive Orlando FL 32808.
RV sites are available at the Fairgrounds for $28. There is a dump site on property. Registration for RV sites ends 1/18/14. Please visit the web site for more information and to register for a site.
FCC license exams will be administered for Technician, General, and Extra classes. You must pre-register to take the tests. Visit the web site for more information.
I don’t I need any RSVP’s for this event, but it’d be nice to know who is planning on attending. I don’t have any special plans during HamCation. I do try to gather a bunch of my ham friends for lunch on Saturday. Y’all are welcome to join us if you’re interested.
There are no military vehicle displays or setups, but feel free to bring some green iron out to the Fairgrounds. In fact, I might just drive my M1009 out there for the fun of it. I just wanted to let y’all know about it because I’m an amateur radio operator and military radio collector.
For more information, please go to http://www.hamcation.com/
Thanks and hopefully I’ll see some of you there!
