Hi all,
Have a leaky head gasket on a M35A2 w/ turbo.

I have most of the 209 & 361 series manuals on disk, but can't seem
to find the "engine overhaul" manual anywhere showing torque
specs, etc. I do have the tool list manual.

The Texas Forest Service gave me the phone number of a place in
Dallas that sells the gaskets, etc.

Thanks for any help.

Seafire, It's been a month since I last tried to reply. Maybe we're on the air now!
I think the data you want is in the TM9-2815-210-34-2-1 and -2 manuals.

Since I'm in Dallas, I'm curious about who has gaskets around here? Let me know if I can be of any help up this-a-way. I think you're near Port O'Connor, right?

Yes I'm right down the road from Port O'Conner.

The place the Forest Service gave me was:
Rex-Tex
214-351-6421

but we ended up buying the gasket kit from Boyce, they were
cheaper and they were supposed to throw in a re-build manual,
I'm still waiting on the package to see what manual they sent.....

Our newest M35A2 conversion to a brush truck:
1968 AM General M35A2 WO/W
1200 gallon poly water tank, brush guard.

Nice looking fire rig! I like the low profile wetside tank. That front bumper/grill guard is huge!!!! It looks like you have man savers on each side, so I suppose you keep a few boys in the 'hot zone'. Do you ever get this truck off road and stick the nose in a ditch? If so, I got some 46" super singles I want to sell you!!!!

Thanks M1075,
The bumper is actually about 8" longer than it was supposed to be due
to an error at the shop that built us the bumper. But we were in a hurry
to put the truck in service due to the busy grass fire season we
were having at the time so we left it as it was. We may end up
shortening it in the near future....
We haven't got the nose stuck yet in a ditch, it's mostly flat
ground around here. Some of our firefighters like the bigger bumper.
We normally put 2 firefighters on the bumper w/ protective gear. This
is our first brush truck with the fall protectors. We added them in
the bumper design after hearing about a firefighter who was killed a
while back in North Texas when he fell off a similar bumper and was
run over by the rear tires.

The Bumper also has a nice skid plate to protect the front axle &
front end. It can be unbolted to change the oil, etc. We use the
low-profile tanks to increase driving stability. This is our first Poly
tank on a M35 however, our older trucks had steel tanks.

We have a hard time finding the surplus cab roofs, I don't know if you
can tell, but the cab roof on this truck was made out of plate steel by
the shop that built the bumper, they didn't charge us for the cab. We
still need to install a back window in it though.

We've thought about going to the super singles, but we currently
have around 12 spare tires on rims.... This truck also came from
the FEPP / Texas Forest Service with all brand new tires.

Wyattearp,
Thanks for the drawing and torque info, you emailed that stuff to
me when I first posted before the site went down.
