Well, with the cold cold weather we've been having here lately, the biodiesel plant has had major issues the last few weeks. I finally got to load my tanker that I purchased and haul some oil. Took about 4hrs to load it, as the one tank had 3500 in it and it was coldish, and the heated tank had 1500. They had been pumping the heated oil into the cold tank (at 130 degrees) to thin it out a little. Their pump only does 50-60 GPM. The trailer pump is rated at 300gpm loading. We got more like 100-125gpm depending on if we hit a cold layer in the tank or not. The hot oil went really fast. It took only 30min to unload it at Charleston. They were scared of my mighty 600gpm off load talk (bet the pump would only do half that with the cold oil) so they used their installed pump. Still went really fast.

M818 did very well, used about 1 and 1/3 tank there and back. I figured 4 MPG loaded and 6 empty. Not bad. Still really slow on the hills heading out of and into Columbia. Haul about 8 more loads of oil, and I'll have a m915.

And, of course, here are some pics.

No wonder you have problems... You need to cut back on the deep fried foods.

Hmm, if that's what it looks like in your septic tank have you ever considered running it in a truck? I'll bet it wouldn't smell like french fries.

You were talking about back hauling bio-diesel from the bio plant. Have you started to do that yet? Do they have to do anything special to the tanker after hauling the WVO before loading up the bio-diesel?

Good looking tractor and trailer....

I think a 920 would be a little bit too big for what I need... A 915/6 would do nice though.

I am not currently back hauling the finished product- they are working on getting the plant in Charleston fully operational again. It looks like early next year, I will be hauling from Winnsboro to Charleston WVO, then across town empty, then back to the plant in Charleston with a load of WVO, then back to Winnsboro with the finished bio.

Even though it is basicly WVO with a little bit of lye and methanol in it, missing some glycerin, it is concidered hazmat when it gets processed into Biodiesel. I currently do not have the 5 million dollar policy that our federal government wants me to have, so I cannot haul hazmat at this time. (gasoline haulers are only required 1 mil, go figure) I am saving the pennys for the 915/916 first. Plus they won't be ready for me to haul finished product for a few months anyway.

The guy in Charleston is looking to do a truck a day by June, maybe 2 a day by the end of next year. I have several drivers in mind if the operation grows that large. My problem might be finding tankers- they absolutely love the military truck and trailer, they want me to use it all the time, as it is cool and makes a statement rolling down the road.

If this takes off like they are telling me it will, I may wind up doing it full time, or at least staying with SHAW just for the retirement, and to 'play' with
trains.

I don't have to do anything special to the truck to clean between loads- the WVO is filtered to 100mic and dewatered, and there is only about 50gal left in the trailer after it's been offloaded. It will blend well with the bio.

I know someonw that would sell you a reliable road ready M915A1 that is somewhat cosmetically challenged for a decent price:mrgreen:.

Then I could go buy a M916 or 920 to use with the lowboy.

Rig looks great Adam!!

Does the trailer have straight air brakes? Or is it air/hydraulic?

You're gonna love smelling that stuff in the middle of summer on a 100+ degree day. It'll put hair on your chest.

Or melt it off.
