Fixed Deuce no start and low power issue

On my cross country move the fuel line running from the fuel filters to the injection pump blew. I sleeved it with some rubber hose and went on my way. After a couple miles I noticed she was down on power and wasn't able to pull more than 900 EGT and 40 to 45 miles an hour on flat land. I changed the filters and went down the road. No improvement. I went ahead and continued the drive home. Along the way the power got less and less and it eventually got to the point that I couldn't start the engine without a little spray of ether. I've been trouble shooting this since I got to Ga and have finally fixed it tonight. I turned up the fuel again, which got my mid power back. I pulled the plug out of the back of the injection pump and used an allen key to turn up the droop and got all the missing power back but was still unable to start without ether. Tonight I pulled a spare injection pump apart and took the Hydraulic Head off and put it on my Deuce. She turned over 5 times clacked a little and fired right up. Tomorrow I will put the clamps back on the fuel lines and go for a drive, I'm sure I'll have to adjust the fuel and droop again so I don't melt the engine. Thanks to all of you that have posted on here with advice about a Deuce not starting. I think I've read 100 posts about it over the last couple weeks.

I think you're saying you sleeved a plastic line? I don't know how you could do this without compressing it and restricting the fuel flow. I suggest replacing that line with new DOT air line and new brass ferrules. I recently replaced all my plastic lines and ferrules and noticed a slight uptick in power, so the condition of your plastic lines may be your problem.

I am replacing all the plastic lines this week. I have the new line, fittings, and ferules sitting in the garage. And yes the busted plastic line was sleeved with a rubber hose.
