Flags on the windshield left side and right side

We are reproducing this 1942 mb for a friend.
anyone know what the 1 star flags are?
the driver was a Sargent in the army and this was his assigned Jeep

Likely he was assigned to carry a 1 star general. Kinda unusual though, as the Jeep is marked for 36th Infantry Division, 133rd Field Artillery, and normally a HQ company would be assigned to that duty.
