Been a lurker for awhile and figured it was bout time to introduce myself. My name is Shay, I'm a Dual Service Veteran (USAF "2T2" & NAVY "ET") and I don't own a military vehicle.....yet anyways. Although in my 11 years TIS I've driven a few different types, (CUCV, Deuce and a half, 5 ton, Pingauzer, 10K, 10K A/T, 25K Loader, 40K Loader, TUV (TAC COMMS) and various Civy types. Worked on C-130H, L100, C-17 & C-5 while in the USAF. In the NAVY I initially worked on air traffic control systems and then the last 5 years were spent working with tactical communications systems while with NSW. Every minute was a blast and great people to serve with.

When the planets align and the right deal comes round I would like to pick up a CUCV. A lot of good memories driving them.

I'm a native from the Dayton area, just around the corner from JW4x4 but stuck in the S Fla oven. Welcome to the site and thanks for your service. After 10 yrs of being married to a 3SO, I've learned what a 2T2 is. The wife works at an Aerial Port Squadron. I think you will enjoy the fray.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome.

I'm definately keeping my eyes out for a good deal for a CUCV. Until then i have this to play with. Not a Steel Soldier, but still in the realm of public service. It's my 1979 Arcanum Fire Dept Suburban. It's a k20 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 350/th400, 14 bolt FF rear axle and GM 10 bolt front running 3.73 gears. I got it in the Nov 09 and some douche bag of a kid pomptly hit me not 3 months later. Decided to keep it and keep on trucking with it and just after fighting with the Insur co. was settled 2 drunk kids cut the corner of my yard at around 50mph and clipped the front end and axle. So right now it's getting a new axle and lift kit and new sheet metal. In the mean time I'd like to upgrade it with some CUCV goodies like bumpers, brush guard, D rings and may and antenna mount and guard. Also like the look of the 36 Goodyear RT II tires but we'll see. Right now I'm moving up from the 31x12.5 to 33x12.5.

Like my Grandad used to say,: "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all"

Here's some pics and thx for the warm welcome. My kinda place.

CUCVizing the burb is a wonderful idea. Lots of parts trucks out there sans axles. For your edification http://www.steelsoldiers.com/members-rides/21049-m1007-suburban-cucv-conversion.html?highlight=m1007 This is a prime example of a burb being all it can be in CUCV clothing.
Hmm Arcanum, lost some brain cells there before.
Arcanum?? Now that could have been Big Bear Mud Biggin'. Wow did we have some great times geting dirty there. "I am looking forward to the past".
