Wanted to share this over on the Gamma Goat side of things. I posted some pics on the CUCV side from days at NC Forest Service. Digging through computer hard drive from 10+ years ago and found these jumbled in there. This was our 'junk yard' of old inventory. I was with a Army vet when I snapped this pic... we was a FS dozer operator in the mountains and we were up getting armor plate that was in the yard when he pointed out the gamma goat. I had never seen one and took the picture...
He had been around for a long time and I will never forget what he said "When I was in the army they had these lined up to auction (DRMO)... the Sarge said those are death traps and we are getting rid of them, they are all going to auction... and then when I came to the FS they had a line of these were were going to paint and service and I was told by the ranger we got lucky and got a shipment of gamma goats... they are going to revolutize fire fighting..."
That yellow paint just never fit these old OD Iron beast.
