Im the recipient of an LMTV 1079 at Fort Meade Maryland. I'm looking for someone to help get the truck off base and store it until I can get the tags set up for legal transport. And ensure it's safe and capable of driving back to NJ.

Side note how do people drive their trucks home the day they receive them? I don't have any information on the truck to be able to tell if it's in driving condition. I also don't know how people are legally driving them home with no tags or insurance.

Welcome to the site and to the MV club. The folks at Ft. Meade DLA when I picked up my HMMWV 8 years ago were pretty easy to deal with. They did not allow driving off the base at the time. Obviously, the safest position about driving is to assume it's NOT ready to go. As far as legal driving, some states have temporary tags one can register for and print out to use for retrieving new cars. I don't know if NJ has this, nor if they will allow temp tags for a vehicle previously not registered like an MV.
In my case I had the vehicle towed off base while I was present. I don't know what the position of the current managers of the lot is regarding driving or about having a 3rd party retrieve a vehicle. Since Govt Planet often deals with shippers I suppose they are OK with having someone retrieve the vehicle on your behalf. As far as whether it runs and drives, I recommend you have someone make that call on-site in real time. GP claims some vehicles are just fine, when they are not, and in my case they said my HMMWV would not run and in fact the lot manager drove it on the flat bed after simply jump starting it. Accuracy in diagnosing and assessing vehicles' conditions is NOT GP's strong point in my experience...
Good luck!

Did you already purchase the truck? If so post your Govplanet item number. Guys on the the SS board will study what they can to give some advise. Thinking you have around 7 days once paid and invoiced to remove. If you are going to be over this contact the site lot directly for other possibilities. Welcome to the SS world. Several years I bought items at Ft Mead but now most all at Letterkenny.
