I find it very cool that your neighbors don't really mind you setting up in the Cul de Sac to work on your truck. Why can't I have neighbors like you?
Please take a few pictures if you can (assuming hands aren't too greasy) - getting ready to pull my front hubs for a PM and considering doing the boot and seal while I am in there. Good luck with the job
It was not real hard to do, just a lot of heavy lifting.
I would buy the locking washer, i bought the seal kit with boots from OD Iron. There yellow but are supposed to be the best.
Also, it took three of us to put the boots on. 6 hands made it easy. This is not a one man operation.
Use a jack to remove the hub and lower it to the ground it's heavy. We used 10 cans of break cleaner. I spent most of the time cleaning parts.
The inner seal was tough to get out and in fact i hand to show him pictures to prove that i would come out with the slide hammer.
Send me a pm if you have any question i will give you my #. Plan 8 hours though to complete. We could do it in 3 now though, learning curve.
