Front end problems ??

I jacked up my m37 to do the front brakes. As i spun the wheel after putting it on jack stands i noticed the pinion does not turn. Both wheels spin. As i spin one the other goes backwards witch is normal but no movement in the pinion at all. What should i look for. I know it has to come apart. Thanks

If it has an open diff and both wheels are off the ground that is normal. The rotational force takes the path of least resistance which is to spin diff which rotates the opposite side in the opposite direction. If you lock up the other wheel as mentioned above, the power should then rotate the pinion and driveshaft.
