Ft. Hood Mounted Warfare Historic Vehicle Rally

Oct. 25, 26, 27, 2013. Ft. Hood, Killeen, Tx.
Participants display vehicles, equipment, etc., on base Friday, then spend the weekend traveling the tank trails, running over the training areas, and visiting units in the field in training.
Live fire range on Saturday. Also, there are several museums to see on base.

Wow, finally an event I may be able to attend!! Hopefully I can make it.

Last time, we got to watch the Abrams and Bradleys doing night fire exercises.
We also got to visit an Abrams company doing Maint. in the field while waiting to do firing quals. Got to climb in and all over the tanks, and talk to the crews.

Then we went to a Patriot Battery and got to see the equipment and visit with the crews.

Then, on to a family day event of one of the Striker regiments. Climbed inside all the various types of Strikers, and then shot M249's, M2's, and a Barrett.
All in all, a pretty good weekend.

Just another bit of info. Anyone coming that wants a motel close, the La Quinta on Ft. Hood Blvd. is only a mile from the front gate. It has a lot to park tow vehicles and trailers. It is the closest to the base, and it is a good idea to call and reserve a room now. There are several places to eat close to it. This is where our guys from East Texas stay.
