Hello Team, if you are looking for a day trip or are a member of either of these two groups, 15-16 Aug 2015 will be the annual campout, WW2 historical displays, and military vehicle show at Ft. Stevens.

There will be a special "Spirit of 45" Service at 1300 on 16 Aug at Battery Pratt to commemorate the end of WW2, seventy years ago. People in WW2 gear and vehicles are urged to attend. Ft. Stevens is located at the mouth of the Columbia river and was shelled by a Japanese submarine. The fort did not return fire so as not to give away their position. The Col. was relieved of his command for this excellent decision.

On Saturday evening we have drive in movies, showing WW2 era films and training films on a screen hung on the side of the latrine. Please bring your own popcorn and chips.

On Friday and Saturday evenings we do a convoy through the campgrounds for the other campers at the park.

Come out and enjoy the great WW2 displays and all the military vehicles. If you have questions please respond back through this forum.

You missed a good event. There were historical displays from demolition to mess tent. Displays of Army, Marine Corp, and Air Corp with half a dozen WW2 vehicles. There were quite a number of newer M series vehicles courtesy of members of the Oregon Mil. Vehicle Collectors Club.

For the Spirit of 45 Service there were probably about 100 people in attendance and only one WW2 Vet. He was a Navy hot shell handler on a destroyer. See you next year, 3rd weekend in August.
