Ft Thomas Kentucky Salute to Veterans Nov 10 & 11, 2013
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this site and was referred to your group by a member.
I am a presenter with the SSCCOhio working the Renaissance Coordinator, for The City of Ft Thomas, Ky. The Salute to Veterans celebration is a week long event that begins the Friday, prior to, with a 1940's style USO dance. Our club, and any other presenters that want to be there for the school students as well, begin setting up the day after election day transforming the Mess Hall into a temporary military museum with local schools coming through to tour exhibits, traditionally, on Thursday and Friday. The main events occur on Saturday and Sunday, open to the public.
Saturday and Sunday is the main interest for your to participation although I am leaving your presentation to your design. We have outdoor space and limited inside space. We do have a small indoor stage or if you want to do an outdoor demonstration we are scheduling spots throughout the day if you would want to demonstrate any equipment. The main theme is a celebration and honor to service and sacrifice and the stories that come from meeting both current and past service persons is really the reward. I understand the fuel costs involved in displaying military vehicles. Ft Thomas provides onsite security and presenters have camped out on the grounds in the past over Saturday night. The historic Ft Thomas post is an ideal location for a Veteran's Day celebration which is now a park with the Veteran's Administration and nursing home on site and a National Guard Post present as well. If you google the address you can do a walk around the building to get a feel for the site.
