I did say so in post 9. I am absolutely new to this forum and truly appreciate the help given by those that have a slightest bit of patience for those that are rookies to the vehicles.

You did not say so. There is no 8.3 truck. I asked you to post which truck you are working on, not a number. It always helps when troubleshooting to know what we are helping with. Making assumptions on our part wastes a lot of time. For all we know you are working on a Yugo

We have an extreme amount of patients. But when we ask you a direct question we do like a direct answer.

Now back to the question. That is the model number of the truck you are working on so we can properly help with your fuel filter question?

It's an 8.3L(figured that out from other posts from the OP). My 8.3L has two fuel filters. One mounted to the engine, and one inline below the priming pump.
The inline one was a Napa # FIL 3033. The one on the engine is a Napa # FIL 3472.

The one on the engine came with a separate O-ring...I didn't use it(the one I took off didn't have it), and I don't have any leaks.

The truck I am working on is a M923A2......

Plode, I took the small one back off and the little o-ring had remained on where the filter screws onto. I should have known better than to not look. Now back to the big filter, obviously the old filter was in backwards, put it in handle up, which makes sense since the large attached o-ring will sit nicely on the metal spring loaded plate in bottom of the housing. On the big filter, it came with a small o-ring....no idea where it goes. I don't see a place for it at all. Thank you! Will be back home to where I can easily look at my TM'S tomorrow.

Was it you that has a smoking issue too?

A fuel leak could cause that too.

Sure is. About to go and mess around with it. Gonna check oil level and go from there. I just don't understand starting to smoke after oil change. No fuel leaks.
