I was working on my 1990 K2500 Suburban (sometime to be CUCV Clone) today and was checking the axles. Front looked fine but the rear has some spider gear teeth chipped and the maginet was caked in black goo.
Someone had been in it before and must have used a full tube of Orange RTV.
I didn't realize that it had a G80 Gov-Bomb. Not wanting to wait until it blows up.
I have never replaced a carrier or locker. But I have changed many axles shaft seals and bearings.
14bolt semi-floating
9.5"(??) 3.42 ring and pinion
mainly street driving, occassional off-road
stump pulling
stuck vehicle pulling
cheap (cash flow sucks right now)
Considering an open carrier or maybe an Eaton TrueTrac.
I don't wheel it and my wife says I drive like a grandpa
Looking for recommendations/tips
