Gas Mileage

Hi. Ive been driving my 1985 M1008. Ive did the calculatiions and im only getting 10 mpg. i have been driviing it tough (like a race car!) but is there any sort of tune up things or things i can adjust to make the fuel economy better? I will eventually get different gears for it but until then.

What size tires do you have on it?

GM geared it for towing and not going any faster in military use than about 35mph. They planned on these things hauling a 5000lb trailer, 8 troops and their gear in the back, and the Colonel with driver in the cab at the convoy speed of 35mph. Faster than that was no one's concern.


Now we own them as civilians and either have to add OD's or go big on the tires.

Hmmmm me personally, I try not to run mine on GAS!!
