I seem to remember there being a difference between the winch driveshafts for a gasser or multifuel. Do they swap between trucks? Can I put a gasser winch driveshaft in a Multi truck?

Thanks,
Dennis

They are different. The multifuel shaft has a longer thinner slip/stub yoke to clear the bellhousing and slides right on the PTO shaft instead of using the 4 bolt flange. I've had a gasser shaft on the tractor for years. You have to clearance the bellhousing a bit but it can work. It's also a PITA to get on and off.

I found a Deuce with a winch that the owner is willing to sell me, but it's a gasser and I've got a multi-fuel truck. Will I be able to bolt-up that winch and PTO unit? It sounds like the driveshafts are different, and I'm just wondering if there's anything else that won't cross-over.

the shaft will work ( I put an entire gasser setup on my multi) you just need to clearance the bell housing a little (grind the snot out of it)

I put a winch from a 53 gasser deuce on my 71 multifuel. I bought a new shaft from Sam Winer still in the wrapper instead of rebuilding the old gasser shaft and grinding anything. Everything else bolted right up.
