On my way into work today I got my GEN 1 light. I was only 3 miles out or so. I chugged along. Got to work opened my hood and the belt broke. Brand new belt. I'll get a volt meter out here in a little bit. If the alt is bad is there anything I can do in a pinch to get it back home?

Change the belt, go from there.

It will run a long time on the battery. If you don't have far to go, you can just drive it home. Be sure the water pump is being driven.
