Hi folks,
For the past 9 years we have been here pretty active here on SS, guiding folks through the general hook up of generators to their home, regardless if the system would employ a auto start systems or not.
Unfortunately, these posts and / or threads disappear in the abyss of the treads, difficult to search for.
Now, maybe the admin can pin this this thread so it wont disappear in the abyss.
The important thing first:
1. Consult a local licensed electrician first, before connecting your Genset to anything
2. All UL, NEC and Local Codes have to be followed
The individual connection to a home depends on various factors and has to be carefully evaluated during the initial planning phase.
There are several different earth grounding scenarios involved in a generator installation.
We cannot stress enough to read the available TM's for your model from front to back and familiarize your self with your generator.
If your genset is to be remote started through an Automatic Transfer Switch then make sure:
1. You follow all local / state mandates from your Fire Marshall
2. Provide and install all required labeling, switched disconnects etc. to be in compliance with those Fire Regulations
Please contact a local licensed Electrician first if you have any questions.
