GL hassle

i bought 8 tires over 2 years ago. now they want to change out demi code from A to Q. first i got 8 tires home and 2 were BAD, had them wrote on them but not visiable in GL pics. its the chance i was willing to take. i email them and got the expected response, you bought scrape rubber so no refunds at all. now im getting email wanting EUC for them. i email them back saying how i didnt have a set so i sold them last year. now they want me to sigh email and fax it back. i copied email , sighed it and email it back to them . this make me not want to buy anything else at all from them. i have had enought. i was watching on watchlist some tow bars, and then they took them off. so they dont play fair at all in my book. sorry about my rantings on here and i very seldom get mad at anybody Tim

It's ok, Tim. We understand your frustration. There's often no rhyme or reason behind what and when items have a demil code change.

Actually, if anyone has examples of random or erroneous code changes, I'd like to know about them. PM me with the info and please include sale and lot numbers. Thanks.

What?..just the whim of anyone? Must be a reason somewhere, whether justified, intelligently thought out or not..

Now how can we find out what goes into this process of change..?

You'll have to ask the Feds about that one. They determine when and what gets a demil code change.

I have yet to see one that wasn't a random act of stupidity. You would be better off trying to track down a change that actually made sense.

Whenever a Department of Defense (DoD) activity turns in an item to one of our DRMOs, our technical specialists verify the accuracy of the demilitarization code. If the code is thought to be inaccurate, it is "challenged" through an automated system. Challenges are reviewed by the Demilitarization Coding Management Office (DCMO), an office that resides in the Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS).

The way I read this, only the "technical specialists " can challenge the demil code.

I challenged the demil code on steel pot helmets a few years back. Good Lord, they have been selling them surplus since 1945, kids used to play with them in the woods, acting out GI Joe episodes and such.
