Glow Plugs with a Buck Converter

Has anyone tried to use of of these to replace the voltage drop resistors for the glow plugs? I'm wondering if it would be a good upgrade to still allow both batteries to power the glow plug system + allow 24V jump starts, but eliminate the cascade failure of the glow plugs since the voltage wouldn't rise as GP failures occur as the DC-DC would maintain 12V on the GP side regardless of the resistance of the glow plugs (how many GPs are working vs open)

This is a bit expensive, but just an example option:

I thought the glow plugs were closer to a 200A load?

Honestly I would be much more worried about failure of a junk Amazon high power buck converter then cascade failure of glow plugs in a properly maintained CUCV. Keep your glow system in good working order and your plugs will last for many years or decades, and if one plug fails you will start to notice progressively harder starting before you are left stranded. When your Amazon voltage converter inevitably breaks, you will be immediately stranded if temps are below 50-60f and you will not be able to effect a repair without ordering a new high power buck converter or restoring the factory wiring.

If this is a novelty project for you, then have fun. It's your truck. But if you want a reliable vehicle to drive and use as a tool, leave it the way it was designed or get 24V glow plugs from a hmmwv and bypass the resistor on the firewall. I would never introduce unneeded Chinese electronics into a critical system, especially not one I more or less trust with my life when I take it deep in the mountains in winter.
