GMTK compatible with SECM - not exactly

Was hoping to add the GMTK to the OVM on my SECM but there was a SNAFU. The Chevy is supposed to carry a 5140-00-388-3416 "Top Chest" (various mfgrs, 13 W, 26 L, 15 H), but as you know these boxes are pretty lightly built these days. Not to mention non-tactical RED color. So I was hoping to put the GMTK in it's place. It fits in the spot, but the lid does not open properly and the front cover does not fold down. Oh well.

And lifting it out by the handles (especially without gloves) could lead to scrapped knuckles. Ouch. I've also seen quite a few of these cases cracked.

What did you expect for a toolkit designed 30+ years after the space to keep a tool box was made?

Check out Home Depot. They had or have, black Husky tool chests for a reasonable price. Think they were four or five drawer for about $70.
