Army to Mark 71th Anniversary of Transportation Corps at Ft. Eustis

Just thought I would pass this mail along.. for interested people....

Military Railway Service Veterans and Friends:

On Saturday July 27th, The Army Transportation Corps (TC) Museum at Fort Eustis, VA, will host the 71st Anniversary of the TC's founding on July 31, 1942. This coming July 27th marks the 60th Anniversary of the signing of the Korean Armistice and will serve as this year's theme to recognize and honor the service of all Korean Veterans. The event will be hosted by the Army Chief of Transportation, BG Stephen Farman. Events for the day will be open to the public and are currently in the planning stage. When finalized, they will be posted on the Museum's WEB site. The museum, located just inside the Fort Eustis Boulevard Gate (I-64, Exit 250), will open at 09:00 hours on July 27th and will remain open through the festivities.

The attached "Mortuary Trains" presentation is presented thanks to the research work and generosity of James Murrie and Naomi Peterson with support from the Museum's James Atwater. The dignity and professionalism involved in this post WWII operation in which TC played a major part is a story that needs to be chronicled to today's transporters. Than you Jim and Naomi for sharing.

In addition to the TC Anniversary celebration on July 27th, several additional marine, rail, and motor branch related activities are being planned for the upcoming months. These include:

With the federal budget operating under a Continuing Resolution, Sequestration, and the likely hood of additional defense cuts looming, Army support of history programs are understandably a low priority. Maintaining the Transportation Corps Culture will increasingly fall on the Corps' veterans and friends. Mark your calendar and join us for one or more of these upcoming event to celebrate and help maintain our rich and proud legacy.
