Fellow member @19kilo and I had to attend someone's wedding. As a gag, he opted to show up in his M923A2.
Seven hours from Fairbanks to Wasilla, a day tooling around, and seven hours back. Straight through except bio breaks. On frost-heaved Alaska roads. Have you ever gone shopping for wedding clothes at Target in a 5 ton?
Trip was thankfully uneventful, especially for a truck that has mostly sat for about 10 years. Only issue we encountered was that the muffler left the chat on the way down. By the time we got back, the entire bottom was gone. I thought it was a little noisy and discovered why when we pulled into Wasilla. Wait...that isn't just a black spot in the camo paint job.
We had done a shakedown run of about an hour the day before so were fairly confident.
I had looked at going to Gary's Truck in Anchorage for parts and to browse, but upon calling he was out of town for the holiday weekend.
On the way back we stopped to meet fellow member @wilkusmcrecon and his M923A2. That was a great visit.
