Has anyone ever bought a truck without a SF97 or title from GL?

I don't know about FL, but I have done it in NC.

Requires you to document the history of the truck- where you got it, where the prior owner got it, why it doesn't have a title. Get all your ducks in a row, call the DMV, schedule an appointment, they inspect it all and photograph VIN data, everything is mailed to Raleigh, get an indemnity bond for 3 years for the value of the truck, 2-6 months later you get a title if they think everything is on the up and up.

If they find it was titled in NC before they will contact previous owner listed to go ask about it and if it was stolen, if not stolen they will give you that persons contact info and say they have to file a lost title form and then when they get a title sign it over to you, and you have to hope the person is willing to do that or you can pay them enough money to get them to. If they refuse you are stuck.

I will buy one without a title here, but will pay $1000-1500 less because of the hassle.

Need more info. Is this from GL? GSA? Private individual?

Usually no title means scrap value.
