Related to running an 802a for backup coverage on the house. Installed a soft start on the heat pump today. I’m impressed on the reduction of inrush startup current. 82A to 30A so far.
I remember about 20 years ago as an apprentice installing a soft start on a 60 horse fan motor for a hospital when it was a contactor start the belt squeal would last for about 45 seconds dim the lights in the room and make some horrible burning smells. The soft start made that all go away
