Hey everybody, awesome site, I am honored to be a part of steel soldiers.
My name is Josh and I am a Jeep mechanic from Chicago. I spent some time in the army after high school as a 63B, Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. They stuck me in Korea for a few years where I worked at a depot shop, replacing 5 ton and HMMVV engines and transmissions all day. Best. Job. Ever.
A few months ago a family friend calls me up and says he is getting rid of the m1009 he had purchased at a government auction for his kids a few years ago. It needed some work, so he said if I can get it off his driveway its mine. I gladly obliged.
The beast had been painted blue, lifted six inches, and accumulated some serious rust. These things aside, its an absolute blast to drive! I think some glow plug work had been done recently, looks like new wiring, and it starts every time!
Thanks for having such a great resource for CUCV owners, I expect to learn a lot and contribute as much as I can. As soon as I decipher this insane 24v electrical system...
Thanks again guys,
Josh
